First day at Mama Yoli's

Folks, I'm sorry I haven't been able to upload any pictures. I've tried the church website, the blog website, and my personal website, http://bestillphotos.ifp3.com. I'll keep trying, so please keep checking through the week.

At the clinic today we saw 60 people, women, children and a few older folks. I believe the youngest was 4 months and the oldest 86 years. They were loved on in a bunch of ways: Jill Smith entertained the kids with drawings while they waited for her husband, Ty, to take their photographs. He was aided by Cole Kuczerpa.
Then they went to the clinic, where Cindy West, with the help of an Ecuadorian lady, a SIFAT worker and eventually Mallory Howe, signed them in and asked some basic health questions.
Barbara Harris and Tracy Downs then took their heights and weights before they went down the hall to see the doctors: Dr. Mary Holley with interpreter Bonnie Holley and, at times, Mallory Howe; Dr. Bill Kuczerpa with interpreter Linda Riddle; and Dr. Robbie Bryant with interpreter Brook Bullard.
(If you don’t recognize some of the names, don’t worry. There are people on this team from Trussville, Hoover, Huntsville, Winchester, Tenn. and Knoxville, Tenn.)
Steve Downs and a SIFAT worker named Hadit checked the eyesight of the ones who needed it and tried to find them eyeglasses from the supply we had on hand. They also got hand-knitted hats that one of the Trussville team members brought.
Sarah Downs and Rachael Petry applied fluoride to the kids’ teeth before giving them a stuffed toy and sending them down the hall to the pharmacy to pick up vitamins and medicines.
In the pharmacy Les Riddle, Donna Carr, Judy Bryant and pharmacist Jeannie Warren mixed and packaged medicines. Interpreter Lindsey Cloud explained dosages to the clients.
El Jefe (The Boss) Jim Harris was charged with keeping it all running smoothly.
It’s a great group of people who work well together. Ecuador and its people are beautiful beyond words.
Keep us in your prayers!
