“It is Well with My Soul,” “Fill My Cup, Lord” and “Jacob’s Ladder” wafted from the pharmacy this morning before we began seeing around 100 patients today (Thursday) in the clinic. That brings the total for 4 days to 338. We’ll see more tomorrow.
And about those pharmacy folks: for every patient the doctors see, the pharmacy folks fill 2 or 3 prescriptions. They have filled 923 prescriptions in the last 4 days. That doesn't include the vitamins, worm medicine and parasite medicine that they pass out to every patient.
Tracy and Rachel tried their hand at laying cement blocks for a while. Jill, Barbara and Tracy have helped the Alex City team with Bible school. Bonnie, Jill and Cindy spent a few minutes this afternoon helping in the pharmacy. Mallory and Jill tried their hands at taking heights, weights and temperatures.
Steve, with help from SIFAT worker Hadit, has been filling eyeglass needs from a limited supply of glasses. Today they fitted a man with near-perfect bifocals, which we agree is a bona fide miracle.
We’ve all been a bit bendy (flexible), and that’s a good thing. One woman said after her first mission trip, “Nothing went as planned.” One quality necessary for short-term missions is flexibility, because things often don’t go as planned.
All day this thought kept popping up: “I can’t believe tomorrow is our last day here.”
I think we could all stay another week.
Saturday morning we’ll be loading the bus around 2:30 a.m. and leave for the airport at 3:00. We're scheduled to land in Birmingham around 5:30 p.m. See you sometime Saturday night.
Gloria a Dios! (Glory to God)
